The Quirk’s NYC Event Recap

The Quirk’s NYC Event Recap

We are still buzzing from the Quirk’s Event for marketing research and insights professionals that took place in New York City just a few weeks back! After several years of cancelled in-person events due to COVID-19, it was fantastic for our team to network with industry peers face-to-face again and absorb all the information regarding the industry’s latest trends. Representing the conference from Precision Sample was Executive Vice President of Client Development, Adam Stephenson, Vice President of Client Development, Mark Reid, and Senior Directors of Client Development, Maggie Adams and Adam Herrman.

Adam Stephenson and Mark Reid took a moment to reflect on their experiences at the Quirk’s Event-

Question: How was summertime in New York City?

Answer: Was feeling the heat! Had to start every day with a bagel/lox/shmear & end everyday with a hot pastrami on rye with a side of matzo ball soup just to get by.

Q: Were you able to fit any popular tourist stops into your schedule?

A: Had to stop and pay respects at the old CBGBs location (now a John Varvatos store) and grabbed 2 mugs of dark beer at McSorley’s Old Ale House (Abe Lincoln’s favorite).

Q: What was your favorite presentation at The Quirk’s Event?

A: Sample Quality

Q: What do you think was the key take-away from that presentation?

A: The study utilized multiple panels to analyze quality trends among them. We did not participate in the study, but the results were definitely interesting and definitely raised concerns about sample quality best practices (or lack thereof) among the industry in general.

Q: What company had the best booth?

A: Research Defender all the way!

Q: What upcoming market research trends are you looking forward to most?

A: New solutions for combatting sample quality issues.

Question: How was summertime in New York City?

Answer: It was hot, humid, and amazing. I almost want to move there. It was lively and busy 24/7 and seemed like the most vibrant place on the planet. It gives you an energy boost equivalent to a few espressos.

Q: Were you able to fit any popular tourist stops into your schedule?

A: I visited Times Square at night, and I have always loved Times Square at night since I was a kid. It is super crowded and bright, and I love the sea of people. On the flip side, I also visited the John Lennon memorial in Central Park with my colleague Adam. Seeing a quiet, beautiful park in the busy city was more peaceful.

Q: What were your thoughts on the Sample Quality presentation at The Quirk’s Event?

A: It was interesting because there is a lot of quality problems that seem to plague the industry.  It is essential to emphasize our quality control process- that is second to none. My clients continuously claim that we have the highest quality respondents with the lowest scrub rates. I think that clients should ask their suppliers serious questions about the standard of quality on panels.

Q: What new/upcoming market research trends were discussed most?

A: I heard about the need to have international sample. It is essential to expand to global markets. We are one of the few truly global companies, putting us in a good position for years to come.

Q: What company had the best booth?

A: I liked Research Defender’s booth. I also automatically liked any booths that offered snack and drinks.

Q: What upcoming market research trends are you looking forward to most?

A: Once again, global markets. I think there are a lot of opportunities in global sample.
